In Memory of David B. Wentz, JD

Sadly, we must share the passing of former Managing Principal, David B. Wentz, JD, whose leadership, dedication, and character helped shape TFB and the many client relationships he so thoughtfully served.

David leaves behind a meaningful professional legacy grounded in trust, long‑term perspective, and a genuine commitment to those he advised. He will be greatly missed by colleagues, clients, and all who had the privilege of working with him.

TFB has a long‑standing succession plan in place to ensure continuity for our clients. Leadership responsibilities continue seamlessly with David’s partners and his son, Vance S. Wentz, CFP(R), at the helm. As CEO, Vance will continue working alongside the firm’s entire staff and leadership team, helping to maintain the stability and service clients have come to expect.

Interests/Fun Facts: I’m a proud Iowa State Cyclones fan! Whether going to games or watching on tv, I won’t miss one. I enjoy being outside playing with the dog and/or on the deck perfecting my BBQ smoking skills.

What I enjoy about the 401(k) world: The most rewarding is from being a manager and seeing my team excel at what we do and succeed in their career paths. Getting to interact with our great clients every day. No two days are the same, and there is always something new to learn, which keeps the work fresh and rewarding.

Interests/Fun Facts: I’m a major foodie who is always on a mission to find fun and unique foods! New restaurants, weird snacks, viral eats? Count me in! I’m your go-to ‘professional taste-tester’ (unofficial title, but fully committed)! Another fun fact: I’m also an identical twin, so there’s quite literally another version of me out there.

What I enjoy about the 401(k) world: I love helping my friends and family make sense of retirement plans. It’s a total mystery for a lot of people, so being the go-to guide is pretty rewarding (and kinda fun!).

Interests/Fun Facts: If I’m not working, I’m outside! I live in a recreational lake community where we spend time fishing, golfing, and floating.

What I enjoy about the 401(k) world: There’s so much to know about a 401(k)! I enjoy learning about a retirement plan that I too am using to build for my future retirement. Rules and guidelines are constantly changing which means there’s always something new to learn.

What I enjoy about the 401(k) world: I love getting to work directly with the clients and be their first line of communication to assist with new plans or transfers of 401(k) plans. I am constantly absorbing new information daily in the retirement world which then in turn I can better assist new clients when talking about new 401(k) plans
